New Zealand - Ferry Crossing information & Schedule

New Zealand consists of two main islands, the North (Auckland, Wellington) and South (Picton, Christchurch, Queenstown) and travellers have the option of touring in either island or both islands, and in the latter case it is necessary to book a ferry crossing.

Travel with Interislander and experience one of the most spectacular 3 hour cruises in the world. Last year, Wine Spectator magazine described the journey as "one of the most beautiful ferry journeys in the world - jaw-droppingly stunning…..". You will cruise through the magnificent Wellington Harbour, view the rugged lower North Island coastline, cross Cook Strait, before finally enjoying the peaceful Marlborough Sounds, as you travel between Wellington, in the North Island, and Picton, in the South Island.

Take a stroll on the decks for the best views, have a meal or even see the latest movies releases. Treat yourself, for a small surcharge, to the comfort of the Club Class lounge, a private lounge with couch seating, complimentary newspapers, magazines and refreshments.

Taking your vehicle on-board Interislander's services is easy, convenient and saves you time - just drive on and drive off!

Interislander has three passenger and vehicle ships - the Arahura and the Aratere and the Kaitaki, providing a convenient, frequent ferry service for passengers and their vehicles.

Check-in is 30 minutes prior to departure for foot passengers and 60 minutes prior to departure for vehicles

Special!
Ski for free with Interislander! Take advantage of our exclusive Mt Hutt ‘two for one' lift pass deal this winter. Simply purchase a full mountain lift pass for up to five consecutive days during winter 2008, and you'll get a second full mountain lift pass absolutely FREE.

All you have to do is hold onto your Interislander vehicle boarding pass - the one that reads "Dashboard Display". Present this at the Guest Services office at Mt Hutt Ski Field, and they'll exchange it for a complimentary full mountain lift pass when you purchase another lift pass for up to five consecutive days. That's up to five days free skiing or snowboarding!

Kaitaki Plus
Kaitaki Plus, our premier luxury lounge onboard Kaitaki has just become more affordable. Kaitaki Plus can now be purchased for an all-inclusive fare of $90. Alternatively, you can upgrade to Kaitaki Plus for only $40 at the Wellington or Picton Terminals or at Reception onboard the ship

A Kaitaki Plus ticket allows you to access a private lounge which includes comfortable seating, free internet access, Sky TV, newspapers and magazines, complimentary beer, wine, tea, coffee and finger food. Entry to the lounge is restricted to passengers 15 years of age and over.
