GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS OF HIRE FOR TRAVEL FROM 1st APRIL 2022

INSURANCE OPTIONS
BRONZE - STANDARD RATE (minimum level of insurance and already included in the quoted rate). Standard rate leaves you still to pay a Bond/Excess of NZ$4,000 (credit card bank pre-authorisation). You are liable for up to the amount of your excess towards the repair cost. If the damage is minor, you will only be charged the repair costs and not the entire excess.
Or options as below can be taken to reduce bond/excess. (Options are payable at the depot).

Excess/Bond Reduction Insurance options:
SILVER - for NZ$15 per day (max 50 days) reduces excess/bond to NZ$1,250 (Credit Card Bank pre-authorisation).

GOLD - for NZ$22.50 per day (max 50 days) reduces excess/bond to NZ$750. (Credit Card Bank pre-authorisation). Also includes: Picnic Table & Chairs (one chair for each person traveling), Baby Seat and/or Child Booster Seat.

PLATINUM - for NZ$35 per day (max 50 days) reduces excess to NZ$0. Security Bond NZ$500 for Debit Card. Also includes: free hire of selected accessories (must be requested prior to pick up): GPS, Baby Seat, Outside BBQ, Picnic Table and Chairs, solar shower. One windscreen, multiple windscreen chips and two tyres will be covered for accidental damage, but not damage caused by negligence, or by wilful misconduct to the vehicle.

When you collect your vehicle Happy Campers take an impression of your credit card for the bond. The bond is not debited from the credit card at the start of your hire, the authority to deduct is held in the unfortunate event of an accident. The impression of your credit card covers your accident/ damage bond liability, PLUS any extra costs such as refilling fuel, cleaning, emptying of the toilet at the end of hire or any traffic infringements, losses or breakages and any related surcharges. Each separate accident will incur an excess charge. A credit card imprint must be on all rental agreements and must be the credit card of the main hirer unless prior arrangements have been made.

PLEASE BE AWARE that once an Excess Reduction Option is selected and confirmed by Happy Campers, the cost Excess Reduction Option is non-refundable. Each insurance policy can only have one claim made by hirer - the policy is cancelled after each claim.

ROAD USER CHARGES (for Diesel vehicles).
The Road User Charge is NZ$7.50 per 100kms for Happy 3, Hi 5, Happy ST
The Road User Charge is NZ$7.70 per 100kms for Happy 4 Berths.

ONE WAY HIRES
For one way hires between Christchurch and Auckland or vice versa the minimum hire period is 14 days at all times.

TRANSFER FEE NZ$10 premium transfer fee for pick-up and drop-off is charged for Auckland and Christchurch.

One way fees are as follows:
Hires where pickup is between 1 April and 30 September
Auckland to Christchurch travel - one way fee of $100
Christchurch to Auckland travel - no one way fee

Hires where pickup is between 1 October and 31 March
Auckland to Christchurch travel - one way fee of $250
Christchurch to Auckland travel - one way fee of $150

A complimentary transfer is available from the Airport or accommodation surrounding the Airport on the day of pick-up and drop-off between hours of 10.00am and 3.00pm.

PUBLIC HOLIDAY SURCHARGE
Public Holiday vehicle collection will incur a one off fee of $60 to be paid at pick up. Happy Campers is open on the following Public Holidays: 2 January, Waitangi Day, Easter Monday, ANZAC Day, Queens Birthday, Labour Day, Boxing Day, Auckland and Christchurch Anniversary days. Closed on Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Easter Friday (10th April 2020).

MINIMUM HIRE PERIOD
For all Happy 4 berth vehicles there is a minimum hire period of 7 days between 1 May and 30 September and increases to 14 days for all bookings between 1 October and 30 April. For Happy 2 ST, HI 4 and HI 5 vehicles there is a minimum hire period of 5 days between 1 May and 30 September and increases to 10 days for all bookings between 1 October and 30 April. For all other Happy vehicles there is a minimum hire period of 5 days between 8 January and 14 December and increases to 7 days for all bookings between 15 December and 7 January. These are subject to change during peak seasons.

DRIVERS LICENSES
All drivers must be 18 years of age or older and hold a current valid driver’s licence at the commencement of the hire.
To hire a 4, 6 or 7 berth the driver must be 24 years or older. No additional charge for 1 extra driver

CANCELLATION FEES
29 days and over prior to pickup the deposit is retained with a minimum of NZ$250.
For 20 - 28 days prior to pickup 20% of gross rental is retained (or the deposit whichever is the greater)
From 10 - 19 days prior to pickup 60% of gross rental.
0 - 9 days prior, Cancelled on the day or No Show, 100% of gross rental is retained.
If a vehicle is returned early for any reason there is no refund available.

AMENDMENTS If an amendment is made to the rental dates within 28 days of collection, no refund will be made if the length of hire is decreased. A relocation fee may apply if the collection or return location is amended within 28 days of vehicle pickup. Any amendment made to decrease the length of the hire will incur a NZ$50 administration fee. It is important to note that Happy Campers may at its discretion treat any amendment to decrease the booking as a cancellation.
