ABOUT WENDEKREISEN
Wendekreisen Travel Ltd is a family owned and operated, award-winning New Zealand Hire Company offering quality Campervan, Motorhome and Car rentals to visitors since 1991. Wendekreisen have introduced an emissions offset program. They effectively offset all fuel carbon emissions of all their hire vehicles. As an example a 10 day hire will offset 540Kg in CO2 emissions. Wendekreisen are proud to include the emission costs credits with all hires free of charge.
THE MOTORHOME
The Wendekreisen Koru Freedom 3 Berth distinguishes itself by offering an additional bed whilst maintaining the rear door entrance found in our initial Koru Star 2ST campervan conversion, the crafter offers advanced technology in terms of road safety and damage protection. The onboard composition media touchscreen with 360-degree protection system will warn you prior to hitting obstacles. The passenger airbag can be disabled when travelling with young children in rear-facing car seats.
There are two bed configurations available, depending on your preferences. Option A: includes the combination of a double bed, plus one single bed. This configuration is designed for a family setup with parents and a child. The safety net protects your child whilst mum and dad can relax or watch a movie below. Option B: features a configuration with three single beds, ideal for accommodating up to three adult friends. The third single bed can be removed and stored in a purpose made storage compartment. The ability to sleep 3 adults separately, offers economy and comfort when camping the outdoors.
A 340W solar and MPPT controller as well as a 2.88KWh battery power bank, ensure you never go flat, thus eliminating the dependence on powered campsites. To provide warmth during the night, we've integrated a robust 2KW Eberspaecher variable speed diesel heater, coupled with lanolin-soaked sheep wool insulation. Sheep wool insulation has natural moisture repelling properties that make it resistant to mould growth. The lanolin present in sheep wool acts as a natural repellent to pests such as moths and dust mites. Furthermore, we have installed various USB and 12V outlets in the sleeping area. The rear windows as well as the window in the sliding door can be opened. In combination with an additional roof hatch, this vehicle offers excellent ventilation.
The Koru Star 3 Freedom is fully certified self-contained, compliant with current and future rules under this certification. Consequently, this vehicle will not only help you save a significant amount on powered campsite expenses but also enable exploration of remote areas in New Zealand.
Standard features include the Avtex 19’ TV paired with the Avtex Bluetooth soundbar (perfect for music enthusiasts), a generously sized pull-out pantry, soft ambient LED night lighting, and extensive storage options. A large and energy friendly 90L fridge delivers sufficient space to keep your food chilled whilst travelling off-grid.
The hot water is produced by an instantaneous gas system which will deliver hot water on demand as needed. This system is designed for campervans, easy to use and very economical on gas. This campervan was designed to deliver a compact and off-grid family solution with separated accommodation for one young child. An alternative use application is compact and economical accommodation for three adults in separate beds.

GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS OF HIRE FOR TRAVEL FROM JUNE 2025
INSURANCE
Wendekreisen offers three types of insurance options. The Hirer acknowledges that they have been informed
about all insurance options prior to commencing the hire. The Hirer is liable for the insurance excess that applies
to each insurance claim. The options are:
Compulsory Standard Insurance:
This rate leaves you still to pay a Bond/Excess of NZ$1500 for drivers 25 years and over or NZ$2000 for drivers of 21 to 24 years (credit card imprint). NZ$20.00 per day with an excess of NZ$1500 for drivers over 25 years (NZ$2000 for drivers of 21 to 24 years) for any one damage. Please note that the excess applies to each single vehicle accident including loss
or damages to third parties, the rental vehicle and its accessories.
The total insurance payable is capped at 50 rental days or NZ$1000 per hire. The Security Bond is equal to excess and covers charges for breached terms of hire and handling fees (see full Terms & Conditions).
Standard Insurance With Tyre and Windscreen Cover:
NZ$30.00 per day with an excess of NZ$1500 for drivers over 25 years (NZ$2000 for drivers of 21 to 24
years) for any single vehicle accident and NIL excess for windscreen and tyre damage (excludes service for
changing a tyre). Please note that the excess applies to each single vehicle accident including loss or
damages to third parties, the rental vehicle and its accessories.
The total insurance payable is capped at 50 rental days or NZ$1500 per hire.
Full insurance cover:
NZ$40.00 per day will reduce the excess for any one vehicle damage to NZ$250.00 (NZ$500 for drivers 21 to 24 years). Please note that the excess applies to each single vehicle accident including loss or damages to third parties, the rental vehicle and its accessories. Includes compulsory standard insurance and windscreen/tyre cover (excludes service for changing a tyre).
The total insurance payable is capped at 50 rental days or NZ$2000 per hire.
ONE WAY HIRES
For one way hires between Christchurch and Auckland or vice versa there is no extra charge. For hires picking up or dropping off in Picton there is a NZ$550 surcharge.
MINIMUM HIRE PERIOD
Vary through the year, Generally from Dec 15th to Jan 15th a 21 day minimum hire period applies.
DRIVERS LICENSES
All drivers must be at least 21 years old and hold a full and current New Zealand driver's licence, or an International Driving Licence, or a licence from the country of origin with English translation that is no less than 12 months old.

EARLIEST AND LATEST PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF TIMES - ALL DEPOTS
Pick up and drop off between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Saturday.
Pick up and drop off between 8.30am and 12.30pm Sundays and public holidays.
Pick ups or returns outside of business hours are available on request (NZ$60 charge applies).
After hours vehicle collections are not available after 8.00pm and before 6.30am.
ADDITIONAL CHARGES
Pickup after 12.30Pm on Sundays and Public Holiday incurs a NZ$60 Surcharge
After Hours Charge NZ$ 60 per collection/return (not before 6.30am or after 8.00pm).
PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF LOCATION INFORMATION
Wendekreisen offers a complimentary transfer between airports and their depot in Auckland and Christchurch. Customs and Immigration clearance after international flights will take about 1 hour. Please check opening hours before you book your flights or pick up date or if you need to book a prearranged after hour service at a cost of NZ$60.
Wendekreisen offers a complimentary transfer from accommodation (within 5km) to the Wendekreisen Campervans Depot.
Taxi or shuttle costs from the accommodation of more than 5km will be at the cost of the hirer.
CANCELLATION FEES
If cancelled 31 days and over prior to pick up the deposit is retained with a minimum of NZ$250.
If cancelled within 30 days to 8 days of pick-up 30% of total reservation cost (or the deposit whichever is the greater). Minimum of NZ$250.
If cancelled within 7 days of pick-up or no show 100% of total reservation cost.
For early return: there is NO refund for any unused portion of the rental is available.
